Wekiwa Springs State Park is located at 2802 Wekiwa Springs Rd, Apopka, FL 32712. It is a historic site consisting of a park and a spring-fed pond. It is known for its wildlife viewing, fishing, canoeing/kayaking, hiking, and camping. It is also known for its wildlife and recreation programs.
It’s also a favorite of locals for swimming, fishing and kayaking, but it’s also a family-friendly place, with several activities geared toward them, such as bike rentals and jungle gyms. If you’re the kind of person who wants to get away from the typical tourist spots, the park is also a good choice for campers, with 68 campsites, each with its own picnic table and grill.
Wekiwa Springs State Park is also a nature lover’s paradise and happens to be one of our favorite places to hike around Orlando. (Do not ask me why, because I’m not going to tell you!) We’ve brought a lot of business partners here over the years, and they’ve all had a great time.
Most of the park is a nature preserve, which means you can’t go swimming—but there are several trails that wind through the park and around a lake, where you can bring your kayak. The trails are well-maintained and level, plus they’re easy to find, so this is a great place for anyone to go hiking.
It is also popular attraction in Central Florida, featuring several man-made and natural swimming holes, as well as hiking and mountain biking trails. The park’s 35-acre spring feeds into a large, kidney-shaped swimming hole, but it is also home to a year-round, 65-degree swimming hole called the Blue Hole, which is also popular with scuba divers.
Other popular swimming spots include the Devil’s Den, Sunset Cove and the Devil’s Cauldron.
